Riviera Nayarit Half Marathon 2015

The 7th Half Marathon and 10K Riviera Nayarit 2015, approved by the Association of International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) was held on  Saturday, November 21, 2015.  There were 1,000 runners from five different countries  (Brazil, USA, Canada, England and Mexico) and from 18 different states in Mexico.

The atmosphere at the exhibition was fraternal and filled with enthusiasm. As the runners came in, they took pictures right away and post them on Facebook. The runners were able to pick up their Bibs and beautifully designed T-Shirts promptly as they came in.

Runners began to reach the starting line around 5.30am and were welcomed by race director Arturo Garcia; followed by the national anthem sung by the Navy’s marching band.

Both 10K runners and Half Marathon runners ran the same course for approximately 6 miles. The race ran through the Avenues of development in Nuevo Vallarta, Flamingos Golf and El Tigre.  Sports drinks and water were provided every 1.25 miles to make sure the runners were properly hydrated.  It was a cloudy day but with very comfortable temperature.

All the participants received a handmade wood trophy handcrafted by the Huicholes . Both the quality and the originality of the trophies were liked by the runners.

The feedback of the race was very positive regarding the organization, the route and atmosphere. Some runners are interested in returning and invite friends and family to such a nice race.

During their time in Riviera Nayarit, runners participated in tours like:

The Marietas Islands are small volcanic islands that provide the perfect setting for a fun eco adventure full of adrenaline touches where you can experience wildlife above and below the water. They also enjoyed time at the Escondida Beach and other beaches in the area where they did some bird and marine life watching (manta rays, dolphins, jellyfish, and an infinite variety of other colorful fishes and more)
